About the Author:

Rebecca Brooks is the author of contemporary romance novels HOW TO FALL and ABOVE ALL. She lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books.

She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx.

Her books are about independent women who leave their old lives behind to try something new—and find the passion, excitement and purpose they didn’t know they’d been missing.

He was tall and chiseled, with muscles that looked like they’d rip his T-shirt if he flexed them hard enough—and if the fabric wasn’t so faded and soft. His hair was cropped short but he had a few days of stubble to counteract the clean cut. He looked like he’d been living in that T-shirt and jeans for a while, but Abbi didn’t mind.

She’d noticed him across the bar, thinking that if he needed to change his clothes, she’d be happy to help take them off.

But then she saw the bartender pour him two drinks and had to extinguish that little fantasy. Clearly he was meeting someone. Back to figuring out how to get Russ out of her life. Not just for tonight, but permanently.

Only now it looked like she had her answer to that problem. And if it wasn’t typically the way she’d choose to handle a situation…at least it gave her a start.

She realized Russ was staring at her, having no idea what to do with this intruder. He’d had his back to the bar and hadn’t noticed Tyler nursing his whiskey, busy being quite obviously not Abbi’s boyfriend. She should say something else, make this sham more legit. She cleared her throat. “So, sweetheart. How’s it going?”

That wasn’t going to win any Oscars. Or convince Russ to leave her alone. She touched the guy’s arm in a way that she hoped projected girlfriend levels of familiarity and not shock—and delight—at how his skin felt to her touch.

Russ gave an exaggerated frown. “Who the fuck are you?”

Which, props to Russ, was an excellent question.

“Where are my manners?” The guy stuck a hand out to Russ. “I’m Tyler.”

“My new boyfriend,” Abbi said, in case Russ was too thick to get the point.

Russ stared at Abbi. “You don’t have a boyfriend.”

Abbi slid closer to Tyler, pressing her body against him.

Minus one for needing a man to save her. Minus another one for perpetuating all sorts of “You can’t have me because another man already claimed me” bullshit when saying no to Russ wasn’t enough.

Plus eleventy billion for getting to feel Tyler’s muscles up close and personal.

“I’m pretty sure I know who my boyfriend is.” She added a hand to his knee.

We Own Tonight by Corinne Michaels: Teaser Reveal

Blurb:

From New York Times Bestseller, Corinne Michaels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE romance novel.

I’m not a one-night stand kind of woman. I’m especially not the woman who has a few drinks at a concert and ends up in bed with my childhood celebrity crush, Eli Walsh.

However, that’s exactly where I find myself.

What’s a girl to do after a drunken mistake? Run. I grab my clothes and get away from the powerful, irresistible, and best-sex-of-my-life superstar as fast as I can. His gorgeous green eyes, rock-hard body, and cocky smile have no place in my world. My life is complicated enough.

Someone forgot to tell him that.

Eli is relentless. Pushing his way into my heart, wearing me down, proving he’s nothing like I assumed, and everything I need. But when my world shatters to pieces, he holds the broken bits together. Unwillingly, I fall desperately in love with him.

He made me think we’d have forever . . . I should’ve listened when he said we could only own tonight.

Ember

Jackson Cane tastes like red-hot cinnamon, salt water, and sin.

When he concentrates, his long fingers twist in the back of his dark hair, right at the base of his neck, and he tugs.

Tugs… tugs…

I like to weave my fingers between his and pull.

Then ocean-blue eyes blink up to mine sending electricity humming in my veins. He smiles. I smile, and it isn’t long before our lips touch. I climb onto his lap in a straddle as I open my mouth, and his delicious tongue finds mine heating every part of my body. Our kisses are languid and deep, chasing and tasting. We sizzle like fireworks on a hot summer night…

Eventually, with a heavy sigh, I pull away, but hours later my mouth is still burning. I taste him everywhere I go.

Lying in my bed in the dark room, my heart aches, heavy and painful in my chest. Every breath is a burden. I blink slowly at the ceiling and slide my tongue against the back of my teeth thinking about hot cinnamon, tangy salt, caramel and sugar, sunshine and the best summer of my life…

The instant I hear it, I’m on my feet and tiptoeing to my open window. The low growl of an engine tells me he’s there in the darkness, out on the street in the shadows just past the streetlight.

It’s late summer, and the humidity hangs heavy in the air. Bugs scree from the limbs of the mighty oak tree outside my window. Their damp wings make them too heavy to fly, and the sadness in my chest is replaced with breathless anticipation.

I’m panting. I’ve never felt this way for anyone, and I’m desperate to hold onto it. I somehow I know I’ll never feel this way for anyone ever again.

Quiet as a mouse I scamper to my bedroom door and listen. The only sound is the hum of Mama’s oscillating fan pushing the warm air around her bedroom. I can’t hear her breathing. I can’t hear anything… except the noise of Jackson’s engine on the street below, waiting.

Red-hot cinnamon.

Salt water.

Sin.

Pressure tingles around the edges of my skull, and a bead of sweat tickles down the side of my neck, dropping past my shoulder, slipping between my breasts.

I’m at my window slowly lifting the glass, and I don’t care if she hears me. I dive through the space, out onto the cedar shake roof in my bare feet. I’ll get a splinter if I’m not careful…

So many reasons to be careful—I ignore them all.

Excerpt:

There’s another round of cat-calls from the pent up audience when the dancers step to the front of the stage and dance provocatively to amp up the viewers. Suddenly they split apart again and move toward us.

My mind is momentarily jumbled, and when the images sort themselves I realize that instead of the woman, the male dancer is approaching me. I can’t help but stare at his incredible body as my gaze slowly works it’s way up from his muscular thighs, to his abs, built chest and shoulders and when I get to his face I realize I’m blinking repeatedly.

The confusion that must be evident in my expression apparently is amusing, because he nods at me before leaning in closer and I feel a flush from his hot breath against my ear. “Hey, Prince Charlie … ready to have some fun?”

I can feel my eyes bug out and a lump form in my throat. It is him. “Ramon?” I ask in a strangled voice.

“The one and only,” he answers with a wink. “I thought you could use a little loosening up.” He widens his legs and steps closer, straddling me and running his fingers through my hair while he slowly rotates his hips.

“You’re gay?” I ask, my mouth gaping open.

His bold laugh makes my cheeks feel hot. “Oh, baby,” he whispers. “You’re so damn cute. Ask me again when I’m done with you.” He gives me a sexy smile and then slowly rocks his hips forward making me want to rip his briefs off.

“Oh God, oh God, oh God.” I whisper, feeling like my face is on fire.

He backs away again to dance around me, brushing his hand over my shoulders and down my thighs while he moves. Every sweep of his touch excites me until I’m sizzling like a lit fuse.

I’ve never seen anyone other than on music videos who could dance with such a natural rhythm and sexual vibe. He turns toward the audience partway through the dance and then bends forward so his ass is presented to me and I’m in agony not to touch it. He has the most perfect gorgeous ass I’ve ever seen. I get harder thinking about what it would be like in this moment if we were alone, and he wasn’t wearing the tiny briefs. Oh God. I think with a sigh.

I’m trying to hide as best I can how turned-on I am. Has there ever been more proof that it’s not a woman that I want in my bed, but a man like Ramon?

I’m having trouble catching my breath when he straightens and swivels, then straddles my legs as he thrusts his hips bringing his bulge tauntingly close to my face.

Shifting back until he’s almost sitting on my knees, he slowly drags his way up my thighs until his ass is against my crotch and he sinks down firmly enough to know I’m painfully hard for him.

The edges of his mouth turn up with delight. “Damn, Charlie,” he says. “You feel so fucking good.”
