Taint by S.L. Jennings: Blog Tour Review & Giveaway

Blurb:

Right now, you’re probably asking yourself two things:
Who am I?
And, what the hell are you doing here?

Let’s start with the most obvious question, shall we?

You’re here, ladies, because you can’t f*ck.

Oh, stop it. Don’t cringe. No one under the age of 80 clutches their pearls.
You might as well get used to it, because for the next six weeks, you’re going to hear that word a lot. And you’re going to say it a lot.
Go ahead, try it out on your tongue.
F*ck. F***ck.

Ok, good. Now where were we?

If you enrolled yourself in this program then you are wholly aware that you’re a lousy lay. Good for you. Admitting it is half the battle.

For those of you that have been sent here by your husband or significant other, dry your tears and get over it. You’ve been given a gift, ladies. The gift of mind-blowing, wall-climbing, multiple-orgasm-inducing sex. You have the opportunity to f*ck like a porn star. And I guarantee, you will when I’m done with you.

And who am I?

Well, for the next six weeks, I will be your lover, your teacher, your best friend, and your worst enemy. Your every-f*cking-thing. I’m the one who is going to save your relationship and your sex life.

I am Justice Drake.
And I turn housewives into whores.

Now…who’s first?

Review by Michelle:

First there's the cover. Yowza! Then there's the blurb. Yes, please! And finally there's the story and I was page turning like a woman obsessed. Taint by S.L. Jennings certainly grabs your attention with its stunning cover but the premise and the perspective alone are enough to keep you hooked while the air of mystery surrounding all things Justice Drake and the beautiful and poetic writing had me completely enraptured.

I cannot say this enough. I love a male POV! Justice Drake's perspective was nothing short of perfection. Although there seems to be a growing trend toward the male viewpoint, it can still be fairly hard to find authors that totally nail it. S.L. Jennings has been added to my short list of authors that I feel really and truly understand and convey the male point of view. Justice Drake is brutally and unapologetically honest. He thinks like a guy, he talks like a guy, he loves like a guy. It is fascinating to see things the way that he does and liberating to experience the way he speaks his mind with such abandon.

If there was ever a question as to whether this book is hot or not, let me put that to rest right now and just say that it is absolutely smokin'. Justice's hotness on its own was almost too much to handle but when combined with his blazing chemistry with Ally, the intense yearning they have for one another, and the taboo that a possible relationship between the two represents it made for a smoldering story just begging for ignition.

Surprisingly there were also more than a few humorous and amusing moments that helped to lighten the overall serious tone of the story. The easy friendship and connection that Justice found in Ally was heartwarming and brought out a side of Justice that was endearing and made him more human. Ally is adorably cute, sweet, goofy, clumsy, and just plain REAL. If there was ever a more likable character I certainly can't name her.

After reading the blurb there was just no way that I was not reading this book. There turned out to be even more going on with this story than I expected. It ran much deeper than anticipated, it was action packed, and there was never a dull moment. In fact there were revelations right up until the very end and the last 10% was totally jaw dropping and left me craving more.

Taint is raw and in your face yet soft and sweet. It is off-the-charts hot but also strikingly lyrical. This is the first S.L. Jennings book that I have had the pleasure of reading thus far but I aim to change that as soon as possible and can see a great many more in the very near future.

Her favorite past times are: daydreaming, writing, and reading.

She has been described as a random, sarcastic, crazy girl with no filter.

Life is short, and it’s more bitter than sweet, so she tries to smile as often as her face allows. She enjoys stories with happy endings, because life is full of way too many unhappy ones or ones that will scare the daylights out of her and have her looking over her shoulder at every turn. Like I said, she's very random.

“Amara… look at me. If you’ve ever fucking felt anything for me, you would look at me right now.”

She met his gaze as he cupped her cheek with his hand, brushing his fingers along her jaw.

“Tell me this isn’t real,” he said in the low voice that always twisted Amara’s insides. He inched closer to her so that his bent knee touched hers. “Tell me what we have is just sex,” he said, pressing his lips lightly on hers before backing away to look at her. He dragged his hand over her breasts and down to her stomach. “Tell me I don’t make you feel something here,” he said, tracing his fingertips along the hem of her shirt. She shivered as he touched her skin. He leaned into her and sucked on her neck, making a trail up to the skin behind her ear. “Tell me, baby,” he whispered huskily in her ear. “Tell me this is only physical. Tell me you only call me late at night because you want my dick and not my attention.”

The last thing she wanted was to be turned on by his words. She wanted to prove him wrong and walk out to lessen the pain they would both feel when she was gone, but she couldn’t fight him when he had his lips on her like that.

“You’re my friend,” Amara said lamely.

“Am I?” he asked as he continued to tease her, his lips traveling across her chest, her collarbone, tasting any skin he could reach.

“Yes,” she gasped when he stretched her shirt up and over her breasts, pulling a nipple into his mouth. “My best friend.”

Excerpt:

I glance down at the worn, grey carpet. “I’m glad it was you too. I’ve wanted to talk to you all year.” What am I doing here? I should tell her goodnight and walk away instead of standing here sounding like a teenager at the prom.

“Really?” She looks like she’s trying decide if that’s just a line. “Why didn’t you?”

I look back down and Jenna bites her bottom lip just slightly in a way that’s both innocent and undeniably sexy.

“I just…” I can’t look at her anymore, so I pull my eyes away and stare down the empty hallway. Why haven’t I spoken to her in almost seven months? Because I’ve spent that time becoming someone new and I can’t wreck all of that hard work. Because I’d have to tell her about all of the things that I’ve kept hidden from everyone if we got involved. Because I’d have to be honest with her—and right now I can’t be honest with anyone. “It’s complicated.”

“Oh,” she says vaguely and I know she doesn’t understand. How could she? Jenna puts the key in her door. “Do you want to come in for a minute? I’ve got a couple of beers in the fridge.”

I glance at my own front door down the hall. The one I should be walking through right about now. “I should go…”

There’s no denying the disappointment in her eyes when she looks at me and it’s painful to know what I could have if I just take that one step forward.

“Okay,” Jenna says. She stands up on tiptoes and bends toward me, her lips grazing my cheek. My head is filled with the soft, powdery scent of her mixed with something deeper and sexier. “Thanks for the ride.” She lifts one finger and draws it down my neck slowly and that’s all it takes for me to lose every ounce of my resolve.

Before I can think about what I’m doing, I bend down and kiss her so hard that I feel the breath leave my body as I press her up against the door and lace her fingers through my own. I’m starting to get lost in the kiss when the reality of what I’m doing hits me.

“I’m sorry,” I say, taking a step back from her. The taste of her is still on my lips and I want more, so much more, but I can’t. It’s not right.

“Don’t be,” she says, grabbing my hand and pulling me closer.

But I resist, glancing away because I know if I look into her eyes I’ll lose every ounce of willpower I’m trying to summon. I can’t believe I’m about to undo everything I’ve put together these past few months. But Jenna is right here in front of me and she deserves to know the truth. “Listen…there are some things you don’t know about me…”

She looks into my eyes and I’m caught. “An STD?” she says boldly.

I wince. “No.”

“A felony? A girlfriend? A baby?”

I can’t help but laugh. In light of her guesses, maybe it’s not such a big deal. “No. Nothing like that.”

She grabs both of my hands and pulls me to her and every shred of resolve melts away. “Then I don’t care.”
