Top 10 List by Jennifer Probst:

Is there anything as exciting to an author than a new release?

Nope!

I'm thrilled to offer you something new in contemporary romance - a hero who's a bit...different. His talent, strength, emotion, and general alpha broodiness got me thinking about MEN.

I love men. But they are a bit of a mystery, even though I have two sons, a hubby, and write about men on a daily basis. How about a top 10 list in honor of our counterparts?

The Top Ten Reasons I Will Never Understand Men Though I Love Them Dearly....

1. They love to be naked. (As a general rule, women hate being naked. All that bodily conscious stuff. Men would never wear clothes if they could get away with it. After birthing two boys who refused to don clothes until they were forced by me and polite society, I now know this as fact.)

2. They speak in a different code to each other. (My hubby talks in complete English sentences to me. When he's on the phone with one of his male friends, he sinks into caveman mode, grunts, and cursing.)

3. They don't see objects of importance. (If I say it's on the table, they say they looked there. When I go back, it's there but they look confused as to how I found it but they didn't. Same thing for refrigerator, clothes in drawers, car keys, glasses, etc.)

4. They like to celebrate things with sex. (I like to celebrate things with food and wine.)

5. They like to get over a bad day with sex. (I like to soothe myself with food and wine.)

6. They eat anything, anywhere. (This includes chugging from bottles in the fridge, half eaten crumbs on table, uneaten portions at dinner, or even finishing what the dog licked.)

7. They have a love affair with the remote. (I am not allowed to touch her in any way, shape or form. Sometimes I find him staring at her/it with such longing I could be jealous.)

8. They hate emotion. (This includes chick flicks, general crying, relationship talks, or cuddling after sex after the first full year of dating is completely over.)

9. They hate discussing relationships. (My husband's friend was getting a divorce. My husband spoke to him over an hour, and afterward when I asked him about the details, my husband said knew nothing about it. Said they didn't talk about such things. WTF???)

10. They love sex anywhere, anytime, anyplace, in any conditions. (Amazing how a penis can you put you in the mood 24/7 - in the woods, car, sandy beach, etc.. Such a mystery....)

Strike (Spark #3) by Jennifer Ryder: Release Blitz w/ Excerpt & Giveaway

Blurb:

Fast. That’s how I like life, especially my two great joys: bikes and women. I’m committed to exclusively riding one, but not the other.

Until April.

A sexy-arse freelance photographer who’s travelled the world, and doesn’t do long walks on the beach or romantic candlelit dinners. She enjoys running with the bulls and food spicy enough to make your hair fall out. If that weren’t enough to get me hard, she rides a mean mother of a motorcycle.

I’ve gotta have a taste of this wildcat.

~Spencer (Jones)

I don’t do fast. Not anymore. I’ve got my career, my independence, and since I fled Spain to come back home I promised myself that I wouldn’t be put second—or third, for that matter—again.

Then I meet pretty boy Spencer.

He’s smooth, oozing the most potent pheromones probably known to modern science, and he’s making a move on me. One kiss was almost enough for my promise to dissolve.

My head says no—my treacherous body screams yes. I’m gonna make Spencer work for it. Make him fight for the chance to have me, because I know that deep down I’m worth it.

~April MacIntyre

Prologue:

SPENCER (JONES)

My head pounds, alerting me to the fact that I’m alive. Barely. I run my hand over my bare chest to find a set of fingers clad with rings. The hand tightens, sharp nails scratching my skin as they sweep over my ribs. I shudder with the realisation that she’s still here. That was not part of the plan.

Her hand continues over to my hipbone, and curls around my side. I turn to see her face buried in the pillow beside me, a cascade of fiery red curls tangled down her back, a strong contrast to her pale skin.

I strain to lift my head off the pillow, and there he is. Ryan. On the far edge of my king-sized bed, face down, bare arse and all.

Fuck.

I’m here again. My life on repeat.

My liver screams out its hate for me, and my body aches in silent protest. And why the fuck is my arse sore?

I wriggle to release myself from her hold.

I don’t like them to stay, but Ryan and I were obviously too fucked-up to care. I must’ve passed out, because normally I deal with their exit.

I don’t do mornings. I don’t do awkward. I like simple hook-ups, and then “see ya”; No expectations, no complications.

This here looks complicated.

Walking naked across my bedroom, the floor littered with condom wrappers and clothes, I pick up a rogue black leather shoe and throw it at Ryan’s arse.

He chokes on his snore, and stirs. “Hey, what the fuck, man?” He rolls over, thankfully tugging the tangled sheets with him to shield his dick. I don’t need a vision of his giant cock in the back of my head today.

“What’s up is that you and Princess Redhead need to leave, buddy. I gotta get to work,” I whisper loudly. Working for Dad today is totally gonna blow.

Ryan swings his legs off the bed, and stretches his arms over his head. “Well, you never fail to disappoint, man. Guess I’ll catch ya next time I’m in town.”

I take a white crumpled towel that I must have left on the floor yesterday and wrap it around my hips. “That depends, mate. If you’re the reason my arse is sore, then this was the last time. Oh, and you might just get the shit kicked out of you.”

He chuckles quietly to himself. “You don’t remember?” He grabs his jeans from the floor in front of him, and slips them on.

“Remember what?” Oh no. Ryan did not go there. I’ll kill him. On instinct, my teeth grind against each other, and I breathe out heavily through my nose as I stalk towards him.

He holds up a hand. “Relax,” he says, as he juts his chin towards the redhead. “Miss Ginger Sex Fiend over there brought toys.”

“Fuck,” I gasp. I’ve seriously gotta lay off the drink.

“Now, get outta here. I’ll take care of Ginger.” Ryan winks, and runs his hands through his mussed up sandy-coloured hair.

Yeah. I need to get to work.

Worth Forgiving (MMA Fighter #3) by Vi Keeland: Blog Tour Review & Giveaway

Blurb:

They say men like a lady in the living room and a whore in the bedroom. I never knew the sentiment was reciprocal. Until I met Jax Knight. A gentleman in public, a commanding, dirty talking rogue in the bedroom.

Daughter of legendary fighter “The Saint,” Lily St. Claire knows firsthand how fighters can be. As the owner of a chain of MMA gyms, she’s no stranger to aggressive, dominating, and possessive men. That’s why she’s always kept her distance. But the day Jax Knight walks through her door she’s captivated by his charm. Stunningly handsome, well mannered, Ivy League educated, and confident, he shatters all the preconceived notions she’d come to think were true about men who trained to fight.

But falling for someone so soon after her breakup wasn’t something she’d planned on. And definitely not something her ex plans to allow.

Review by Michelle:

After reading Worth the Chance by Vi Keeland I was intrigued by the smooth, charismatic, charmer that is Vinny's doppleganger and brother, Jax, and couldn't wait to learn more about him. I was a bit worried at first going into Worth Forgiving as to how Jax would fit in with the previous stories seeing as he was pretty isolated from Vinny and Nico, we didn't have a whole lot of background on him, and most importantly, he was more of a businessman and a not so much a serious aspiring fighter. I should have known better as each Vi Keeland story I read just seems to get better and better. Worth Forgiving is a smart and funny, sinfully sexy, action packed love story and my favorite of the series.

Despite the entire series being centered around confident, dominant, alpha male fighters each man is so different from their predecessors with his own preferences, proclivities, and enamoring qualities yet they are equally as desirable as the last just in very different ways. Jax is the cultured son of a senator, a millionaire businessman, and a grade A hottie with a deliciously dirty mouth who has finally embraced his love of fighting and decides to live his life for himself, not to please others. He is extremely smart, wonderfully quick witted, with a childlike zest for life. This fun, sweet and considerate gentleman coupled with the dirty talking bad boy fighter makes for one smoking total package that encompasses pretty much anything you could want in a male lead.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Jax and Lily, their connection, and their playfulness. They are both successful business owners who can carry on an intelligent conversation one minute and really bring the heat the next making this story immensely interesting and pretty hard to put down. While the clever dialogue between the two, their playful teasing, and adorable and amusing food sharing habits makes Worth Forgiving much more fun than I remember having when reading the first two books.

For much of the story there was a whole lot less of the characters from the previous books than I usually like to see in a series of interconnected standalones as Jax has no relationship with Nico or the man he has just recently found out is his brother, Vinny, and is pretty far removed from them by way of his career and location. But, the way in which Vinny and Nico are finally drawn in to Jax's story I found to be very smart and the forced interaction and outcome of the contact was executed perfectly.

One thing I really love about this series in general and is especially true of this book as well is the realistic fight scenes. When I read about an MMA fighter I want to be drawn into the action and feel like I am really experiencing a large part of the main character's life not reading a fantastical, melodramatic reenactment in which the good guys always triumph no matter what the odds. The heroes in this series are not superheroes who never take a punch as I think we have all experienced in other fight depictions a time or two. These boys take some serious blows, sometimes cut things a little close, and may still remain victorious in the end but they are far from indestructible.

Worth Forgiving is the perfect combination of sexy and fun. The epilogue is the ideal ending to Jax and Lily's story. A fantastic conclusion to a series I am sad to see come to an end.
