HOT SEAL Rescue (HOT SEAL Team #3) by Lynn Raye Harris: Release Blitz w/ Excerpt & Giveaway

Blurb:

From New York Times bestselling author Lynn Raye Harris comes the next explosive story in the HOT SEAL Team series!

Navy SEAL Cody “Cowboy” McCormick is in Las Vegas for a little R & R before his friend’s wedding when a beautiful blonde jams a gun in his side and abducts him from a casino in broad daylight. He could stop her, but he plays along because he’s intrigued—plus he’s convinced she’s in danger.

CIA agent Miranda Lockwood’s life is on the line when an undercover operation goes wrong. Little does she know when she sashays up to the biggest, baddest looking dude in the casino lobby that she’s kidnapping a Navy SEAL—or that she’ll be unable to resist his charm when he turns up the heat.

When the CIA labels her a rogue agent, Miranda’s faith in everything she believes in is shaken to the core. Cody’s the only one she can trust to help her find the traitor in the agency. But even though she’s forced to betray him, she can’t get over the SEAL who made her feel safe in his arms. Miranda will have to fight harder than she’s ever fought for anything if she wants his forgiveness—but Cody’s not in a forgiving mood in spite of the sparks that still fly when he’s forced to team up with her again.

When disaster strikes and they’re caught in the line of fire, Cody will do everything in his power to keep them both alive. Because if he doesn’t, he’ll never get to hold Miranda close again…

Excerpt:

Her gaze dropped to his mouth. Those lips begged to be kissed. They were firm, smooth, and sensual. She imagined them against hers, imagined how they would feel and taste.

“Miranda.”

She snapped her attention to his eyes again. They were still blue, still clear—but now they gleamed hotly, their depths intense.

“Yes?” She tried to make the word innocent, clueless. “I just saw you naked. I’m not likely to forget that sight anytime soon. And while I didn’t come over here to be a douche and make a move on you while you’re upset, if you keep looking at me like I’m something you’d like to saddle up and ride, I’m going to oblige your curiosity.”

Excerpt:

Stacia felt a presence at her shoulder. She recognized his cologne before she even looked up. It smelled like desire and late-night sex marathons.

Pace.

“What do you want?” Stacia asked, not looking up.

“Just coming to check on you,” Pace said in a sexy low tone that sent a shot of need straight between her legs.

Damn him for being able to do that to me!

She jerked her head up. “Why?”

“Because you look miserable, even from across the room.”

“I do not!”

He raised an eyebrow, and she had to keep from sighing. That face. God, if he wasn’t such an asshole…

“The hair flip earlier, Pink? Really? Sure sign of distress. You practically called me over here.”

Don’t call me that,” she said through gritted teeth.

He smirked at her response.

“And I didn’t call you over here. I don’t even want to see you.”

“You can talk to me, you know.” He leaned his hip against the bar. He was almost touching her but not quite. She could feel the heat of his skin. “Come on, let’s go outside. Away from all this noise.”

“If you think for one second that I’m going to go anywhere with you, you’re insane,” she said, straightening.

He brushed her hair off one shoulder and just barely skimmed his finger across her exposed collarbone. She stiffened. Her entire body throbbed. No one else elicited these primal emotions from her. Not even the guy she’d given her virginity to. The guy no one knew about.

“I promise I won’t touch you,” he growled out. “Unless you beg me to.”

Stacia smacked him in the chest and stormed away. What an arrogant jackass! How dare he say those things to her! For all he knew, she was still dating Marshall. Pace was so testy over the fact that he thought she’d slept with Marshall when they were together, yet here he was, seducing her, while he still believed she was with Marshall. Ass!

Pace chuckled behind her. “Come on, Stacia. I’m just messing with you.”

He followed her across the crowded room until she reached the restroom. Then, he did exactly what he’d said he wouldn’t. He grabbed her arm and kept her from entering a place he wouldn’t follow.

“Seriously, what’s up?” he asked.

“Do you really want to know?” Fury and also desperation coated her features. She really wanted to tell someone. She wanted it off her chest.

“Yeah. Though this fire is pretty hot.” He raised an eyebrow.

“God, is everything just a joke to you?” she asked.

His eyes shot straight through her. “Not everything.”

“Feels like it. I feel like a joke to you.”

“Most things, Pink,” he said, stepping closer, “but not you. Never you.”

Stacia tensed as she forgot the world around her. Pace had a way of doing that—making her lose herself. But all she did by losing herself was open herself up for him to hurt her. Time and time again.

“Pace,” she said through a shuddering breath.

“I won’t take what isn’t mine.”

“Good.”

“I just still consider you mine.”

Blurb:

Jackson Stiles is used to having bad days, but they’ve been especially bad since a certain tabloid reporter seems to have it out for him.

Emma Green doesn’t mean any harm. She simply sees it as her duty to report the misdeeds of certain Private Detectives who charge too much in a society where people need more superheroes and less villains; something even Jackson has convinced himself he deserves to be called, deep in his gut.

When the two of them realize they’re investigating the same suspicious circumstances, Emma makes Jackson an offer he only wishes he could refuse. But can the man who trusts no one allow the one woman he can’t stand help him get to the bottom of a murder he feels responsible for?

Exposed and unsure, these two unexpected allies come together to unmask the mysteries cloaked in plain sight while uncovering secrets within each other. A lost soul and a seeker of truth travel down the road to redemption and discover more than they bargained for.

This book contains strong language, sex, lies, conspiracy, murder, and sarcastic banter between characters.

So today, I live in Florida with my two girls and a husband that shares my same sense of humor and basic take on life as we know it.

Life is too short to put dreams on the back burner.

I write both contemporary and paranormal stories that include mystery, suspense, humor, action, romance, and anything else I can think up.

Excerpt:

“Morning, Stiles.” The five-and-a-half-foot brunette that likes to make my life miserable is easily five-eight, maybe even five-nine, in the heels she’s got on today. Combined with the dark blue power suit she’s wearing, she comes off as all business despite the fact that she doesn’t make eye contact with me. She’s too busy scrolling through a bunch of bullshit on her smartphone.

I growl a response so it comes out as more of a warning than a greeting. Is it a bit much for this time of day? Maybe. Considering our history, I’m not exactly worried about her impression of me, though.

Emma Green is the latest and greatest “crime” reporter for our friendly neighborhood tabloid. And I use the term “reporter” loosely, by the way. Very loosely.

Doesn’t care about getting the story right in certain cases, if ya know what I mean, loosely.

Her name’s been on nearly every article the Redemption Chronicle has put out since she arrived from somewhere down in Florida. She shows up at most crime scenes, from burglaries to homicides, and has very much become a royal pain in my...

“You’re late, by the way. They were just talking about you.” She mutters and points, blindly, down the hall as she steps into the elevator. Which is my cue to get the fuck out.

My one and only cigarette calls to me from the front pocket of my button down. Thank God I remembered it. But quite frankly, I don’t have the energy to pull it out. Not that I wouldn’t get arrested if I did, but . . .

“And you look like hell.” She’s full of compliments today, I see.

“Fuck you very much, Green.” Not that I’m complaining. It makes it easy to respond to her in like fashion. And bonus: I’m feeling pretty good about getting the last word in on this battle of the banter, as the doors close but then they open again.

“Maybe you shouldn’t stay up so late playing around with your buddies over at the police department.” I look back to see her foot blocking the sensors that would normally allow the doors to close. She still can’t be bothered to look up. She’s too busy burying her nose into the iPhone.

Let’s be real here. Flirting is not her forte.

“I appreciate that enlightening bit of useless advice, Green.” Despite my attempt to be nice sarcasm spills out of every word. It’s only when she pulls her foot all the way in and the doors are halfway shut that I ask myself─ how did she know I was downtown last night?

Emerald eyes peer up at me as the question enters my mind. And I swear, she’s fucking smirking.

Between the pleasant smile and the way her expression lights up like she’s about to pounce, I’m not sure what the hell to think. I haven’t seen her smile like that since the day I briefly met her on the scene of a break-in I was hired to investigate. First thing I noticed was her smile. She seemed...new.

The next thing I noticed was her eyes.

Deep green. The grab-a-hold-of-you-and-don’t-let-go kind that make you wanna know everything that’s going on behind them.

And don’t even get me started on her ass. It begs for mercy because she, no doubt, runs it every day, then follows up with a pint of fat free yogurt and a jug of water.

Not that I’ve thought about it.

But I digress.

She was polite enough. Or so I thought. Asked me if I had any insider’s information on what had gone down that day. It’s not like I was rude or anything. All I did was tell her I wasn’t doing her fucking job for her.

I paid the price for that comment in the article she ran the next day. The headline read, “Local P.I. steals more from family than burglar.” I won’t bother you with the details, but let’s just say, the article was less about the break-in and more about what an asshole I am.

I mean, what the fuck?

I can assure anyone who has the balls to ask, I charge less than ninety percent of the dicks working the tri-state area. Just ask the bill collectors.

The asshole thing is still up for debate...in most circles.

Lesson learned here? Never trust a woman with eyes that stunning or an ass that tight.

Basically, I fucking hate her.

“You going to do something about that?” He nodded down to his very prevalent erection as it pressed into her stomach.

“Maybe. You stopped me before I could get going, though.” Who the hell was she, that she was completely down with sucking a guy’s cock and giving him a handy in one day? This obviously must be an illness. Sex sickness.

That was a real thing, right? It had to be, or else she’d gotten a little haphazard on washing her hands while traveling and was now infected with a brain-eating bacteria that turned her into a sex fiend. That was...less likely. Whatever it was, she couldn’t bring herself to care, because all she wanted was Gage’s hands on her, and for him to fix the need that ached between her thighs.

“And what did I say before?”

She thought for a moment, her brain still fuzzed over with must have Gage. Need now. “That you’re in charge?”

“Exactly. Let me take care of you,” he whispered in her ear.

Excerpt:

“Why do you do this?”

“Do what?”

I roll my eyes and gesture to the dog she’s walking.

She looks down at the dog then back at me. “How could I not is the better question. Being locked up in the same small space day in and day out . . . I know that seems like a normal day to you, but to most people, it’s enough to drive them crazy.”

My step falters when I hear her answer. No one outside of Chad calls me out on how little I leave our apartment. Even Chad is starting to give up.

“These dogs are more than likely going to die, anyway.” Lennie turns a sharp stare my direction. “The reason these dogs won’t get adopted is because everyone wants the cute, shiny puppy. Most people won’t stop to notice that these dogs have a lot to offer the world. People just need to open their eyes and take a chance.”

I’ve apparently ignited a fire.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you. My parents aren’t animal lovers so we never had a pet.”

Lennie tilts her head to the side. “Tyler, have you ever felt unconditional love?”

Her question causes my head to spin. I was in love once, only life didn’t work out how I pictured. The only thing I know for a fact is she didn’t unconditionally love me.

“Sure, my parents love me unconditionally,” I finally answer.

“What if you disagreed with them? If you told them you were gay or that you robbed a bank? That you killed someone? Would their love still be unconditional?”

I look her in the eyes, and I can tell she’s seriously questioning my answer. “I don’t know. I’d like to think they would.” Her face softens. “Humans come with strings. They always have and they always will, but the love you get from an animal is truly unconditional.”

Review by Michelle:

Thank goodness the world did not have to wait long in between the release of the first book in the Retrieval Duet and that of the this second book, Transfer. After the killer cliffhanger at the end of Retireval, I don't know if my poor nerves could take it! Even more heart-warming, action-packed, and anxiety-ridden than the first book, Transfer is everything you could hope for in the conclusion to this thrilling and emotional series.

This time around it's Clare's story and I love seeing how far she has come over just the few months between the first book and the end of this one. Watching the confidence that has been lying dormant for so many years in Clare return is a welcome and wonderful thing. Clare went from an understandably quiet, submissive, fearful shadow of a woman to a sassy, outspoken, confident woman who could not only take care of, but also protect, herself and her child. She is now a woman who doesn't need a man to protect her, to make her feel safe, or to make her feel whole, but is strong enough and brave enough to want a man by her side, to trust him, and to let him in unconditionally.

With a head-long dive right back into the action of the cliffhanger of the first book and fast-paced ending of this one that ping-pongs back and forth between POVs ramping up the tension and excitement to near unbearable levels, not to mention the gasp inducing twist, you will be anxious, breathless, and clinging to the edge of your seat the whole way through with a small reprieve in between by way of a sweet, tender, and seriously protective hero, a love born of compassion, admiration, dedication, and revival and a passionate connection, you have an utterly intoxicating story and a superb conclusion to the duet.

While I was delighted to follow Clare and her ever so dreamy man on this journey, I have to say, I would have loved just a bit more Elisabeth and Roman as well. They were there, either on the periphery or in the background of many scenes but there wasn't a whole lot of story that revolved around them and their new family. While I totally understand that Clare needed to find her way and her place, I was hoping for a bit more of Clare's relationship with Elisabeth, more interaction between Tessa and the Leblancs, and well, more Roman really.

Transfer had me totally and completely mesmerized. I love these characters, I love this story, and I love this series! If you love your romance with a healthy dose of emotion and a side of action and suspense, Transfer and the Retrieval Duet is a must read!
